early morning light, looking NW

The sun was just rising in the east.  You can see 2 seagulls under the cloud if you enlarge the photo.  They are traveling to breakfast, in the harbor, just beyond the trees..

tuesday morning

An apartment across the street has a  Christmas tree set up by the window. It's lit by early afternoon, into the evening.  I'll have to get a picture of it later on.  It's not even Halloween! I get disoriented every time I look out the window and see that oddly timed trimmed tree.

[hard to get a decent shot of this, but you get the gist]

A block away, along the bigger intersection, they've strung the Christmas lights already... traditionally they get lit on thanksgiving night or the night after. I hope they don't get crazy and light them up for Halloween... though that'd be spooky.

Last night me and ev played several games of Gomoku, and one game of Scrabble.  It's good to play games sometimes.

Gomoku

Lingering over a cup of coffee now.  The day is grey and rainy.  I have some medical testing today (and tomorrow) around noon, so I won't be doing much before that.
The streetsweeper passes by; boy does that make a big sound.  Startled me.  Traffic is in full force.  I like the sound of it going over the wet pavement.

My contented cats sit nearby.  They've eaten their morning meal, and all is right in their world.

morning

Early morning wake up. I go to the store at dawn; sugar for my coffee, and a bagel for my stomach.

The world is already rushed at that time... people going to school and work... the subway steps streaming with people, and buses packing up. Heads down, cell phones abundant, as usual.

That intersection is a block away, and the block makes all the difference. The traffic here isn't light, but at least I don't have to listen to all those buses pulling in and out. I can hear and feel (even up here on the 6th floor) the train going by underground, but that's not disturbing to me at all.

friday morning

My cat, Little Guy, makes a whimpering cry, not satisfied with being on the table, when he could be in bed. His fault for following me wherever I go.
It's 5am, and crow is the first sound I hear outside. Good morning, Crow. Always good to see (or hear) you.

It's humid this morning, I have the fan on me. I'm drinking tea.

Sometimes I come to this page with little agenda in mind... just a ramble, as I would do in a journal. Makes for a post that can be often mundane, but that is as much a part of me as anything.

I like this quiet time before the outside world really awakens. Of course, I say that and a car goes whizzing by, just to keep me in check.

Having messed up with Burnie the troll, I think I will start a new one soon. A troll is nagging to be made.... Just like a character sometimes nags to be written. There is also an elfen-type creature that wants to be made. The imagination challenges; if only the hands could follow the way I see it. But I do it the way I can. Trolls manifest themselves a bit faster, by virtue of their, well, trolliness. I see them as having their own beauty, but one that is a lot easier to sculpt!
Now, elves, on the other hand, tend to be graceful, lithe, attractive beings.... That's a bit more foreign territory to me.

The sky is lightening. I think it's going to be another grey day with the chance of thunderstorms. That's good; I like a day like that.

good morning

The morning sky is blue today, despite foghorns in the harbor. I've been up all night; tossing and turning for a couple or three hours, and then just deciding to get out of bed around 4.
Last night me and evie began the matting and packaging our pressed flower pictures. We're happy with with way they turned out. We're scanning the pictures to use on note cards. I think I will continue with that scanning this morning.

Wishing you a thoughtful Thursday.

morning serenade

In the morning, seagulls come this way, heading for the harbor, where the catch is good. It seems they always go out for meals, and head home around sunset.

Nearly 8am, and traffic is busy down below. The subway trains run more frequently beneath the road... For some reason I like it when they screech to a stop. You can feel the vibration of the train up here.

People are closing the doors to their apartments, pressing the "down" button on the elevator which is right beside my door. Some people press the button four or five times, as if that will make the elevator come more quickly.

I haven't slept, and it seems like as good a time as any to write about the mundanity of morning, and how lovely that can be.

cold sunday morning

Good early morning to you.

It's cold outside, just 18°F/-8°C. Cozy in the apartment; luckily there is a good amount of heat coming up. The radiators hiss.

I woke up a couple of hours ago, feeling a little sick in my stomach, and after getting some water, I naturally sat down here for a while. So here I am. I did a bit of internet surfing, checked for new messages at the groups and forums I belong to, and then watched a bit of morning news on television.

It's Sunday, and a good day to stay inside and make things. I can't seem to conjure up much inspiration for making Valentine stuff, but the boutique is having a sale at the hospital on the 12th of February. Unless I get pierced with cupid's bow, I doubt I'll make anything special.

Last night evie brought over blank greeting cards of good watercolor paper, and we painted a couple of those for Valentines. Maybe we'll do some more of them today. I could make a few heart pendants covered in some bedazzles. They'd be easy enough to knock out.

As you can probably tell, this Valentine stuff doesn't thrill me too much. Not that I'd turn down a box of chocolates if one would come my way. :-) I'd rather concentrate on creations that come from inside; true inspiration and imagination.
