yet another

A muggy August night, but the sun is moving slowly to the south, so the days are shortening.  Yay.

last night's sunset

There aren't many good sunsets over the winter and much of the Spring, so its been a while since posting any.  When I took this one last night, I noticed my hands are shaking more than usual.  This does not thrill me.  Set at 1/60th of a second, as you can see I wasn't able to hold the camera steady, though I tried every trick to do so.  Bums me out.

56/365 sunsets

Sunsets are so much part of me that they are hard to describe.  My description always comes in the form of a photograph, which hopefully does it due justice.
The title of my blog is more or less based on sunsets.
The sunsets in Santa Fe, New Mexico, were deep red, making the mountains bleed in the distance.
In Lapland, the sunsets when I first got there in May, were brief, the sun just dipping beyond the horizon for a couple of hours, and then, as summer wore on, it did not set at all.  Too much light.  The camera capturing blue sky and puffy white clouds.
My camera holds the deep yellow of a sunset before or after it rains.  I love when the sky turns yellow.
Then there is the beauty of inky blue clouds blooming in the sky, with the last rays bursting out from some small space.
Clouds etched in gold at the end of the day.
My windows face West, and I'm on the top/6th floor of my building, so I get a clear view of the sunset each evening.  This is where I take my pictures from, peering through the living room window.

*A free-write is a type of automatic writing, where you just go with your stream of consciousness non-stop. There's no thought to spelling or grammar, and no editing of words. Supposedly this opens the mind up to greater creativity. They can be 5, 10 or 20 minutes long. Suggestions for freewrites are always welcome. Visit Evie, with whom I freewrite, at the space between colors.

400!

This is my 400th post. When I started this blog in the fall of 2008, I could never have predicted keeping up with it for this long. I spent a good portion of my life writing in journals, and keeping everything very private... then for the past several years that kind of writing started to cease. But I discovered a different avenue for my writing, and so much more, in this thing called blogging. I didn't have anyone following me for the longest time, and then slowly, my following built up, and in indeed I follow a lot of blogs myself. It is a great enjoyment for me to go perusing the blogs.

I want to thank all of you who follow me, and those of you who visit regularly, and leave me comments. It means the world to me.

I look forward to another 400 to come.

mild winter

Except for one freezing day a couple of days ago, the weather has been unbelievably mild.  In the 50's today.  Last year at this time we were set for blizzards and such.  Still a couple of months of winter left, so I wonder what will be?  Any snow in the future?
Here was tonight's sunset.  You can just see how mild a day it was.

autumn's on her way

Last night the wind started to change. It gusted and roared, and pushed all of that dreaded humidity away! Today it is a fabulous 58F, and I can feel that beautiful season of Autumn arriving.
