Logan at 17 months

Logan is 17 months old, as of tomorrow.  The time is just zipping by.  I saw him today when I went to my mom's for a Mother's Day dinner, made by my sister.  During the car ride there, Logan said my name, and pointed at me when asked, "Who's Barbara?"  He said my name over and over.  I was thrilled to death.

Didn't take any great pics today.  Sometimes it's hard to catch that special moment.  But anyway, he makes any pic the cutest.  So here is a photo-update of my great-nephew.
He has taken to petting trees, and saying "hi tree"... as he's been taught to be a tree lover by my sister, who we call "Tree."

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there

And, Happy Mother's Day, to my mom.  You are a beautiful, vibrant woman, and I admire you greatly.  My love for you is as big as the sky.

sky makes good

I took this photograph on the evening of my birthday (May 6th). It was chosen as an "approver's choice" at  Weather Underground, where I post my sky pics sometimes. Kind've like a little birthday present for me. I already posted this pic the other day, but here's another look.

monday morning??

??? Monday?  Hello, Barbara, it's Wednesday!!

The rain beats down on this chilly morning, and climbs right inside my bones, taking residence in my knees, and various other joints. I'd say these are the joys of getting old, but to tell you the truth, when it comes to knee pain, I remember having that since I was a kid. Growing pains they called them. Maybe now I am having more symbolic growing pains. That is the holistic healer in me, turning something in a way that gives some insight into dis-ease. So, what are my growing pains about? Ah, that is a question for quiet contemplation, and not so easily put down on paper, as it were.

I am tempted to open the window and take a picture of the rain. But not only is that very hard to do, the rain is slanting this way, and besides not wanting to get the camera wet, I don't want to get wet either. It's chilly enough!

I pretty much didn't sleep last night. Did some late night blogging, and then read some of the novel I am reading, "Water For Elephants".

I look at my little poem in the previous post, and think how insomnia clears the mind for such sentiments to come through. Well some might say it fogs the mind. Memories linger on it, though, like rain on clouds, It holds a certain truth. Sweet, but sometimes that can make you gag. Hahaha.

I bet a lot of petals are falling from the cherry blossom trees today. That would be pretty to shoot, but just as pretty in the mind's eye, which it will have to be today, because I'm not going anywhere.

As mundane as it may be, here is a picture of what is behind me. A little bit of "where I am."

Hope you have a good day, rain or shine.

it's May, it's May!

"It's May, it's May, the Lusty month of May!"  I remember that song as it was sung in the movie, Camelot (1967, with Richard Harris and Vanessa Redgrave), but couldn't find that version online.  Found some others, but they all left something to be desired.

I'm a little late in welcoming May... the last month of (hopefully) nice weather, before the horror of summer hits.  Not a fan.

I have insomnia tonight, and I wrote this tiny "love" poem, just for May.

rakastan sinua
my love for you does not wane
but neither does it wax
it remains resplendent in fullness

from on high

,Went up to the roof around sunset to see what I could see. :)  Sunsets taken from my window don't include the view of the harbor, which is so close by, but you can see it from the roof, which is nice.   I took more pics of rooftops, from the roof... the light was blue.  It's the kind of light where you can see fairies out and about, if you are lucky.  Then there's a pic taken from between part of the building..I pumped that one up with some post-processing, but still didn't achieve the gritty look I was after.
